I Hired The Wrong SEO Firm, And This Happened To Me

Well, this is the story of my business failure. Some of the decisions I took ruined my business and the SEO Firm I had hired was one of the reasons behind this dramatic failure. Anyway, now I am a successful business owner, and I wish to explain my current situation in my next article. SEO Firm — Well, I didn’t know much about digital marketing those days. Well, it doesn’t mean that I am from the stone age. My expertise was not digital marketing.

My lack of knowledge on digital marketing made me hire that “disastrous digital marketing company.” How did I get caught in their trap? Well, the price was the only thing I considered at the beginning. Well, I didn’t have millions to invest in the new business, so I did everything possible to minimize costs.

One of my friends told me that hiring an SEO Firm is a must-do to get my new business to potential customers. Sadly, he didn’t explain me the crucial part —  how to choose a reputable digital marketing firm? I went on the Internet and searched for SEO services providers. I went through all the websites listed on the Google’s first search page. Anyway, the prices of those services providers shocked me. I mean, they were so expensive (well, that is what I thought those days, and I know I was wrong.)

 scanned up the 6th search page, and something amazing stopped my eyes — “We are the cheapest SEO Firm in the city, and we can rank your website on Google’s first search page in 48 hours.” Well, that was what the good-for-nothing firm had said on their website. I thought I found the best service provider in the city, and I straightaway called them. That phone call was the starting of the end of my new business.

The person who answered my call told me fairy tales. They promised me to rank my website on the Google’s first search page for sure, and just for $500. That $500 money was my worst-spent money in this lifetime. After all their fairy tales; I said that I will meet them in person. “No, sir! You don’t need to visit us in person. We can confirm everything over the phone,” they said. Well, I took it as a plus point. Sadly, I didn’t know that SEO scammers do the same for every client. The SEO Firm confirmed everything over the phone, and I made the payment too (online transfer.)

They took all the password of my business website. Months just went on, and nothing was actually happening. Every time when I called them, they said; “we are working on it, sir. A few more things to be done, so pay us another $500.” Surprisingly, they managed to move my website to the Google’s 5th search page. Well, it was a big release, and I thought that they are working their SEO magic now. But, I didn’t take that long to understand what were they were actually doing.

A few customers complained about zero user-friendliness. In other words, the SEO Firm didn’t take that long to ruin my website with tons of black hat SEO. At this stage, one of my friends advised me to run a free online SEO-friendliness checker. Well, I did and realized what was that cheap SEO Firm has been doing all these days. It is surprising that they managed to rank me on the 5th search page.

They had filled the website with paragraphs of keywords. I mean, nothing useful was there for the visitors. As the business owner, I should have noticed their black hat SEO strategies in the first hand. Instead, I believed their fake promises. The few months I wasted on their useless SEO and other marketing strategies were just time and money wastes. Why did that happen to me? I just started my business with tons of dreams. After this failure, I studied about SEO strategies and SEO Firm deeply enough to understand the true power of digital marketing. Anyway, I was already too late. I mean, I even couldn’t concentrate on my core business, and business operation didn’t go smoothly.

What was the mistake? It is dead simple. As a business owner, you should not just focus on the price of service providers. Now, I have understood that some services are so important when running a business, and you can’t, or you are not supposed to focus on the price. So, every business owner should invest big money in reputable service providers. How did they become “reputable service providers?” Well, they were the reason behind many business owners’ success. That way, they developed a name in the industry as top-class firms. Only those firms can do positive things for your business.

Time has passed, and now I am a mature man (in terms of digital marketing.) So, I know that SEO or the world’s most powerful online marketing strategy is expensive today. OK, some might say that digital marketing is not expensive. At least it is not cheap. If an SEO Firm claims that it provides services at the cheapest rates in the city; it is safe to say that they will ruin your current SEO status too. OK, let’s summarize the points that I have learned so far:

* Search engine optimization is not cheap, and it cannot be cheap. In a world where thousands of business owners fight for the Google’s first search page, and if SEO is the trick that can get it right; how can it be cheap?

* Scammers in the industry are top-class when it comes to fooling you. Their promises and initial actions will attract you to hire them (even without meeting them in person; shame.)

* An SEO Firm that can change your business positively will tell you the truth. Genuine firms don’t give fake promises. I mean, they talk less and do more. Also, they consider a sit-down meeting as a must-do.

* Anyone who claims “we are the cheapest in the city” will just waste your precious time and money. Well, you can earn back the money, but time? Time is the most important factor for business owners. Don’t let anyone waste your precious time.
